One Day Old

It rained constantly today. The barnyard and pasture became extremely mucky, especially after our little earth-moving project yesterday, and the cows hung out inside the loafing shed. Lariat's new calf (we still haven't settled on a name) was frisky and curious. Lariat is a good, attentive mom, but her udder is very full and uncomfortable. When I went out to do evening chores, the calf was running laps around the shed.
A small, diverse permaculture farm (and now, Bakery!) in beautiful SE Minnesota - our dream come true life focused on Local Food, Local Art, Local Music.

In September 2008, we dived into our dream of creating a small, sustainable farm. Neither of us has previous farming experience, but we have enthusiasm and many ideas for this little 10-acre farmstead.

How cute is that baby?! I love how happy she is bounding all over the place!
Love it! Do you think Lariat was telling her to settle down there at the end? And I have always loved how they hold their tails up! Very cute!
