Mousers
Our chickens are turning out to be better mousers than our cats. Twice today I saw roosters dispatch mice that must have gotten into the dried corn in the barn. They raced off quickly with their prizes, not allowing much of a photo opportunity. Maybe they were afraid I would try to steal their quarry from them.
I remember we used to get mice in our chicken coop all the time because of the chicken feed. Any time those chickens saw a mouse or a nest of pinkies, look out! They'd all fight over them!
In September 2008, we dived into our dream of creating a small, sustainable farm. Neither of us has previous farming experience, but we have enthusiasm and many ideas for this little 10-acre farmstead.
